BACON IS BAD! BEEF CAUSES CANCER!?

According to a new report by the World Health Organisation, Bacon is BAD! More accurately, the study says that processed meats like hot dogs, sausages and bacon can cause colon cancer and red meat is also a likely cause of the disease, World Health Organisation experts say, in a potentially heavy blow for the global meat industry.

The analysis of 800 studies from around the world by the International Agency for Research on Cancer – IARC – found “sufficient evidence in humans that the consumption of processed meat causes colorectal cancer”.

“Each 50-gram portion of processed meat eaten daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 18 per cent,” it said in a statement.

The category includes meat that has been salted, cured, fermented or smoked, hot dogs, sausages, corned beef, dried meat like beef jerky or South African biltong, canned meat or meat-based sauces.

Mystery Nigerian Disease Kills Victims Within 24-hoursA mysterious disease that kills patients within 24 hours has claimed at least a dozen lives in a south-eastern Nigerian town, the government says.

“Seventeen people have died of the mysterious disease since it broke out early this week in Ode town,” said government spokesman Kayode Akinmade. The disease, symptoms of which include headache, weight loss, blurred vision and loss of consciousness, killed the victims within 24 hours of their falling ill, he said.

Laboratory tests have so far ruled out Ebola or any other virus, Mr Akinmade added. The World Health Organisation – WHO – said it had information on 14 cases with at least 12 dead.

“Common symptoms were sudden blurred vision, severe headache, loss of consciousness followed by death, occurring within 24 hours,” WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said :: Read the full article »»»»

Breastfeeding Rates in Australia Plummit

A new report from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare – AIHW – has astonishingly found that only 15 per cent of Australian babies are breastfed for the first six months of their lives. The new report indicates that 90 per cent of Australian babies are breastfed at birth, however,  by four months of age that figure drops to 40 per cent and then to 15 per cent at six months ::

The World Health Organisation – WHO – has issued a stark and dire warning! The world is apparently on the brink of a post-antibiotic Apocalypse. The World Health Organisation is stating via physician warnings that most common infections no longer have any cure. To add woes to the antibiotic dilemma, there may be a new culprit in the crisis – NDM-1 – a gene which makes bugs resistant to drugs. NDM-1 was discovered in the drinking water of one of the world’s biggest cities, New Delhi.
