NSFW! Australia’s First ‘Revenge Porn’ Law

NSFWAustralia’s most livable state, Victoria has modified existing sexting legislation to outlaw “revenge porn,” making it the first on the continent-down-under to criminalize the new form of cyber harassment.

The forthcoming law will make it an offense to take part in “non-consensual sexting;” i.e., deliberately sending explicit pictures of someone that isn’t yourself. Penalties for those who break the new law haven’t been finalised.

The laws have been through several drafts, including amendments added to protect minors – who post nude photos to one another – from being hit with child pornography charges.

Revenge porn first kicked off in 2010 with the launch of isanyoneup.com, a submission based porn site started by Hunter Moore. The site was a massive hit, dragging in hundreds of thousand of dollars in advertising revenue and attracting 30 million pageviews a month.

10 Percent Using Smartphones During SexAccording to a new study by mobile experts JUMIO, 10 percent of Americans have admitted to using their smart-phone while having sex, either to answer a call or send a text, the 2013 Mobile Consumer Habits Study found.

“People view their smartphones as an extension of themselves, taking them everywhere they go — even the most unorthodox places — from the shower to their commute, from the dinner table to the bedroom,” said Marc Barach, chief marketing and strategy officer at Jumio, the company that funded the study for Harris Interactive. The report compiled surveys from 1,102 smartphone users.

The study also noted that a whopping 72 percent of Americans said they were within five feet of their phones at all times, making it proximal even while between the sheets.

Not everyone is happy about the prevalence of tech in traditionally intimate spheres: 12 percent of respondents reported that smartphones were “getting in the way” of their relationship. For the demographic of 18-34 year olds, the number jumps to 20 percent :: Read the full article »»»»

New York Mayoral Candidate Anthony Weiner Caught-up in NEW Sexting Scandal

Posted: July 23rd, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: STANDOUT | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , | Comments Off on New York Mayoral Candidate Anthony Weiner Caught-up in NEW Sexting Scandal

The WeinerNew York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, who was forced to resign from Congress over a sexting scandal, has admitted sending more lewd texts and photographs to a young woman.

For anygirl who’s used the services of a dating website – hand shoots up – a male posting pix of his weiner isn’t anything new. While the general population is left with the belief that sexting is a teen propensity, most grown men – around a quarter in my experience – proudly post mobile manifestation of their member on about the fourth or fifth encounter.

According to news website The Dirty, Mr Weiner, 48, used the name “Carlos Danger” to contact the woman on Facebook and establish an online relationship with her which involved the exchange of intimate photographs.

Amusingly, a poll last week suggested Mr Weiner was well-placed to become the Democratic candidate to succeed Michael Bloomberg as the mayor of New York City, with voters apparently largely indifferent to his scandal-tainted past, a sign perhaps the NY girls get as many spammy-sexting pix as Huma Abedin? :: Read the full article »»»»

NSFW!! SEXTING: Phone Sex? Naked Self Portrait via iPhone

WARNING! CONTAINS NUDITY

NSFWThe list of celebrity regret is awesome, Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Kat Dennings, Scarlett Johansson, Rihanna, The Weiner, Snooki and Miley Cyrus, all armed with a smartphone, a mirror and a penchant for flashing the flesh. Clearly highpants loves these dribbles and drabs from celebs, there is a more real side to all this though – Regret!? While flashing flesh might be an integral part of the PR machine that is the entertainment industry, in our normal humdrum lives naughty pix can be a pain.

Stories like the 23-year-old woman who dropped her smart phone in a restaurant car park in South Carolina. She thought her treasured photos would be lost forever. Imagine the shock, when nude pictures she had taken on the phone started being sent to people in her contact list. The woman from Spartanburg County called in police when friends began receiving the risqué messages of her posing naked. By the time her phone was disconnected by her network, the naked pix had reached the rest of the world.

Sexting isn’t confined to gender, just ask The Wiener.  So is sexting a dismiss-able event? Sure, we’ve all done something in our personal lives that we might not be so proud of. And sure, most everybody is willing to forgive politicians, even accept that it’s just a part of normal for celebrities. There’s always some kind of weirdness out there, isn’t there? The massive concern is that sexting is becoming an acceptable behaviour, concerning because almost the only group that looks up to these 25 cent celebrities are  teens.

Weiner was driven, not by lust–which we can sort of find forgivable–or even by some other kind of desperate passion–but by vanity. It was plain old lousy, dumb, nerdy, unmerited, vaguely pathological and certainly creepy vanity that made him take pictures of what he thought was his handsome virile/viral self and send those pictures to women he didn’t know personally in order to feed his sense of unparallelled perfection”  says Gina Barreca of Psychology Today

SEXTING

Ah that old nugget is back, SEXTING! Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Kat Dennings, Scarlett Johansson, Rihanna, The Weiner, Snooki and Miley Cyrus, all armed with a smartphone, a mirror and a penchant for flashing the flesh. Clearly highpants loves these dribbles and drabs from celebs, there is a more real side to all this though – Regret!? While flashing flesh might be an integral part of the PR machine that is the entertainment industry, in our normal humdrum lives naughty pix can be a pain. And while we’ve sat around here making much noise about the dangers of sexting, it turns out teenagers are more sensible than we give them credit for. According to a new study they are sending naked pictures of themselves at much lower rates than previously thought. A study in 2008 found one in five American teens had sent a naked or semi-naked picture electronically. The new study claims those findings are way off the mark. Janis Wolak, from the Crimes Against Children Research Centre at the University of New Hampshire, says the findings have major implications for sexting education programs.
