Hot on the heels of last week’s preview of Intel’s 3rd-generation Core i5 and i7 Ivy Bridge mobile processors, Dell’s Alienware has announced Ivy Bridge availability in its refreshed M14x, M17x, and M18x gaming laptops. The three units also get new GPU and storage options, dedicated Creative Sound Blaster chip, as well as THX TruStudio.
Locally, cnet reported, Dell has officially refreshed its Alienware gaming laptop lineup in parts of Asia Pacific with Ivy Bridge processors. Countries getting the update: Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore. Unlike the US and UK, those in this region (with the exception of Australia and New Zealand) won’t be seeing the M18x. This means that consumers only get to choose between the M14x and the M17x.x

We’ve been following IPS panels for a we while now, and with much anticipation of them becoming a bog standard item, a standard consumable. Dell this week released a new affordable IPS LCD Monitor, a monitor with more pop than a lady gaga track and a price tag we can actually afford, the monitor is already on sale for $399 USD. The panel is based on IPS technology - In-Plane Switching – that gives the display a more vivid and brighter picture than the current generation LCD monitors. The iPad 2, iPhone 4, Asus Transformer tablet, Samsung Galaxy tablet all use IPS displays to give the tiny displays that little extra pop, critical when the whole computer is just a display. Dell this week has announcedd two new Alienware gaming laptops, the M14x and M18x. With looks straight out of a Geiger inspired movie and extreme hardware these are not corporate laptops for tinkering in spreadsheets. The M18x especially is an exercise in the Extreme. Like a geek game of one up man-ship Dell has taken a turn at seeing who can shoe-horn the most extreme parts into the smallest space.
