Mystery Nigerian Disease Kills Victims Within 24-hoursA mysterious disease that kills patients within 24 hours has claimed at least a dozen lives in a south-eastern Nigerian town, the government says.

“Seventeen people have died of the mysterious disease since it broke out early this week in Ode town,” said government spokesman Kayode Akinmade. The disease, symptoms of which include headache, weight loss, blurred vision and loss of consciousness, killed the victims within 24 hours of their falling ill, he said.

Laboratory tests have so far ruled out Ebola or any other virus, Mr Akinmade added. The World Health Organisation – WHO – said it had information on 14 cases with at least 12 dead.

“Common symptoms were sudden blurred vision, severe headache, loss of consciousness followed by death, occurring within 24 hours,” WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said :: Read the full article »»»»

CIA overhaul to boost cyber capability and security amid growing threat of digital attacks

The CIA plans to radically overhaul operations, ramping up its capability to deal with cyber threats while boosting integration between departments via a network of new units, the agency says.

Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan outlined the proposed changes to the agency in a message to staff on Friday described as a “Blueprint for the Future” covering four key areas.

Mr Brennan said the US espionage agency would set up a new “Directorate of Digital Innovation” to reflect the rapidly evolving cyber landscape :: Read the full article »»»»

Militaries Scramble For New Skills In Cyber Era

Militaries Scramble For New Skills In Cyber EraWith growing concerns over the very real threat of “cyber warfare,” militaries around the globe are racing to recruit specialised computer personnel, operatives they believe may be central to the conflicts of the 21st century. While money is plentiful for new forces of “cyber warriors,” attracting often individualistic technical specialists and hackers into military hierarchies is another matter.

Finding the people to command them is also tough. After a decade of messy and relatively low-tech ground wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, some senior western officers are if anything less confident with technology such as smartphones and tablet computers than their civilian contemporaries.

Ironically, the earliest – modern – computers were developed by the military to crack codes, simulate nuclear explosions and communicate effectively through battle conditions. The Internet – our daily bread – grew out of a military research program, the wide open pockets of military technology spending gave us satnav, 747 Jumbos and sms. Read the full article »»»»

Two independant documentary makers have uncovered conclusive proof that the CIA bungled, then covered up the bungle of pre-9/11 intelegence. In the process of investigating what seems like a script written for Chevy Chase, the film-makers have coerced – gently – the CIA to Out one of it’s own covert agents.

The hi-jinks the CIA has undertaken pre and post 9/11 are well documented. The FBI has since 2004 been overtly critical of the renegade agency and it’s seemingly gung-ho approach to national security, intelligence and the inept use of it’s covert agents. It seems the CIA operative in charge of the agency’s  Global Jihad Unit had serious lapses in judgement, bungling not only the pre-9/11 intel gathered, but  losing a suspect – who later flew flight 77 into the Pentagon.

“In plain English, the 2004 FBI report says that the CIA knew a year and a half before the attacks that a known Al Qaeda bad guy named Khalid Al Mihdhar was likely heading to the United States and didn’t tell FBI or INS. Mihdhar would be one of the first two 9/11 hijackers to arrive for the plot, the one reportedly closest to Osama Bin Laden himself” According to Ray Nowosielski and John Duffy, her name is Alfreda Frances Bikowsky and she is a CIA analyst who is partially responsible for intelligence lapses that led to Al Qaida’s 9/11 attacks on the U.S.A. Read the full article »»»»

CIA Faked Vaccination to Score Osama Bin Ladens DNA

We’re not sure how to tackle this one!? The story is so far-fetched that it might actually be true. According to newspaper reports, US spies this year conscripted a Pakistani doctor to run a fake vaccination campaign in the quiet city of Abbottabad, as part of a plot to uncover the hiding place of Osama Bin Laden.

The Central Intelligence Agency – CIA – supposedly wanted to confirm the whereabouts of the United States’ most-wanted terrorist before he was targeted by US special forces in a raid on the town in May. Within days of the story’s publication in UK newspaper The Guardian. The alleged fake CIA vaccination campaign constitutes a grave manipulation of the medical act, said Médecins Sans Frontières international president, Unni Karunakara :: Read the full article »»»»
