New Zealand’s government this week enacted laws to establish a three strikes and your out regime for illegal file downloading. The Copyright Infringing – File Sharing, P2P – Bill was introduced on Feb 23 2010 and passed this week with a final set of amendments. Seems the kiwis now have the most comprehensive anti-piracy regime in the world, this will surely end with honest people getting caught in what can only be described as a fly paper of a system. β★β READ MORE

Groupon is planning to go public later this year with a stock offering that will value the company at $20 billion, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing “people familiar with the matter.” The Journal also said the company is expected to choose Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as lead underwriters for the deal. The current prediction is slightly down from the Bloombergs last punt at a price – $25 billion - a month ago on March 17th. Which was up considerably from the journals prediction a month earlier, $15 billion on Feb 12. OK, lets go back to the start of this blip – Groupon is Planning at some time in the future to float for an unknowable amount, it will be in the billions!? [MD]

Jonathan Tasini is suing The Huffington Post for not paying its contributors. Tasini runs a blog Do you think he pays his bloggers?. NO, of course he doesn’t. Tasini’s blog, Working Life, was launched in 2004 as a “community of people who want to discuss, share ideas and exchange information and stories about work, the economy and labor” where “vigorous opinions are encouraged.” Tasini’s describes his readers and contributors as “the heart and soul of Working Life . this blog was started precisely so that people could have a place to debate and bring news of their own to the world” Sound Familiar?!
